CAGUAS( OLD SCHOOL) 80'S 90'S

CAGUAS CENTRO Y CORAZON DE PUERTO RICO (CENTER THE HEART OF PUERTO RICO). CAGUAS LIKE MANY TOWNS OF THE ISLAND HAS A RICH HISTORY IN GRAFF .JUST LIKE MAYAGUEZ GRAFFITI HAS ITS STARTS IN THE EARLY 80S THE FIRST RECORDED CREW WAS U5 WHOM WERE FROM BROOKLYN . WHEN I CAME TO CAGUAS IN LATE 92 THERES WASNT REALLY ANYTHING AROUND JUST PIECES FROM THE EARLY 80S THERE WERE WRITERS HERE BUT NON ACTIVE. THERE WERE OLD PIECES AND THROW UPS BY TEZ 3 AND TAT'S RAZ (SUB) . AND SOME OF OLDER PR WRITERS BUT NOTHING CONCRETE .

CAGUAS HAS WHAT HE FIGURED WAS A GRAFFITI WRITER BUT WASNT REALLY HIS NAME WAS FLASH HE DID USE AEROSOL TO PAINT BUT WE DIDNT CONSIDER HIM A WRITER BECAUSE OF HIS STYLE AND POLITCAL MURALS.dont get me wrong he was an awsome writer of his time . LATER DURING THE YEARS OLDER WRITERS CAME BACK OUT LIKE REEL , SHEM , ZEO, ZACH, DON JUAN, AND POE ONE FROM THE LORDS CREW CALIFORNIA . IT HAD A GOOD BOOM IN 92 93 WHEN WE STARTED BOMBING AND ROCKIN WALLS . MANY WRITERS STARTED POPIN OUT LIKE POT HEADS WHEN YOU LIGHT A PHILLY.

CAGUAS CASERIOS(PROJECTS) WERE ALWAYS DECORATED WITH GRAFF.ZACH ONE LIVED IN BRISAS HES WAS ONE OF CAGUAS MOST KNOWN IN THE MID 80S AND REEL ONE . MANY WRITERS INSPIRED THE CAGUAS WRITERS OF TODAY . BUT THE BIGGEST INSPIRATIONS OF THE TOWN WAS REEL, SPEC, DEGA, CER2 AND MANY MORE . I WAS TOLD ONCE THAT CAGUAS IN THE 90S WAS THE SECOND BRONX. IN MY OPINION IT WAS CLOSE .THERE WAS A A LOT OF BOMBERS THAT TO ME MADE HISTORY AFTER MAYAGUEZ AND AGUADILLA WRITERS. LIKE TEN, DUK, ZEO, KILO, 57, AND BURU FROM NOTHE PHILLY. THE STYLES WERE DIVERSE BECAUSE OF THE DIFERENT BACKROUNDS POE ONE FROM LORDS CREW GAVE PR A SWEET CALI STYLE BUT WRITER SKE MADE A BIGGER IMPACT ON CAGUAS STYLE.

THERE WERE MANY CREWS TO CREDIT FOR THE HISTORY OF THE TOWN ILL MENTION JUST A FEW . BNA,KD, NIA,BOS, DEA, BMM, U5, BWS, MUECAS, ETC ETC .THERE WERE OTHER CREW BUT CAME LATER LATE 97 98 . IN 98 THE TOWN HAD A HUGE DOWN FALL WITH WRITERS QUITING TO GO TO SCHOOL AND THE POLITICAL STATUS OF THE TOWN CHANGED ALSO THE NEW MAYOR HAD A ZERO TOLORANCE FOR GRAFF AND CLEANED HOUSE MAKING GRAFFITI ILEGAL EVEN ON PRIVATE WALLS THEY HAD THERE OWN VANDAL SQUAD . THE VANDAL SQUAD MADE IT IMPOSIBLE FOR YEARS TO SEE GRAFFITI ON MURALS TILL MID 2005 . SINCE ITS CHANGE AND VANDAL SQUAD BANKRUPTCY. NOW YOU CAN SEE MANY WALLS ROCKED . THERE IS A REBIRTH WITH WRITERS FROM CHICAGO AND CAGUAS OWN ROCKIN WALLS AND KILLING STREETS . IN THE FUTURE ILL THROW OU SOME JEMS AND INTERVIEW CAGUAS WRITERS AND CREWS THIS IS ONLY PART ONE OF CAGUAS HISTORY

  1. i think rafitti is an art expression but it usually you cant read it clearly when is about words and numbers . is likea sub culture, but has value as well.but when you post itin a place is not indicated, looks like Revelion to the system eestablished... If you make grafitty as a mural, it could be beautifull, dependong what kind is it, but you cant doa graffitti violating laws and usein private property to write or draw what ever youwant , because this is Daño ala propiedad, when we do thingsviolating the law an rights of others , our art is taken as a crime, and that kind is sadly asociated with gangs, and negative things.... so if you want to keep the graffitti as an art expression ,fight and do it well so people can see art , not revelion... Art if is beautifull cant be punished..take off thedarkness in the graffitti and youll tke it to a higher level.Me personally bellieve that the intention is Art.. but is an expression of marginated people .
